About the artist

Erik Undéhn creates graphic, yet restrained compositions of places, objects, and people. From simple leaves to solitary gas stations to almost illustrative portraits of buildings, his work is striking and intriguing. Born in 1976, Undéhn assisted various photographers Erik became a freelance photographer in 1999. Having switched to digital photography, his work still retains a sense of the analog. In 2015 Undéhn published “Vista," a collection of personal work designed by Bedow Stockholm. The book is printed in 300, signed and numbered copies. Undéhn divides his time between commercial commissions, editorial work and personal projects and is based in Stockholm Sweden, while using the world as his workspace.

About the book

The camera is neutral. Without any values or interpreting it makes images of what is in front of the lens. All objects, whether we like them or not, reflects light that passes through the lens and then firmly being etched into the film creating the image. But despite the ability to recreate reality as it is, reality through the lens can still be manipulated. By the choice of angle, time of day, light and framing it is possible to decide what we want to show the viewer. The Vista project consists of places all over the world, perceived at a given time by the camera but with Erik Undéhn’s perception and control of the light and angle. Presented over 101 pages in the book Vista by Erik Undéhn Offset Printed in Sweden, designed by Bedow Stockholm and essay by Carl Undéhn.
