Romain Lienhardt

Born 1972, French

Romain Lienhardt developed an interest in photography from an early age in school, before working as a lighting engineer and photographer at the photography department of France 2 (a French television channel) upon graduation. He met Dominique Issermann shortly afterwards, triggering an unexpected turn in his career towards fashion photography. Lienhardt began to freelance assist many renowned fashion photographers: Peter Lindbergh, Paolo Roversi, Jacques Olivar, Patrick Demarchelier, Terry Richardson, Rankin, Mario Sorrenti, and many others.

He started his career as a solo freelance photographer in 2002, shooting for ‘Trend-Union’, a studio of style and trends, and magazines such as WADView on ColourBloom or In View. Working for these varied clients broadened his knowledge of design, interior decorating, and architecture, while the endless, highly-demanding and multi-faceted nature of his commissions enabled Lienhardt to hone his own work. His substantial and unusual inspiration is not confined to the bi-dimensionality of photography. The fruit of his personal artistic research and development has been shown in many exhibitions, and he is currently preparing several shows centering on subjects dear to his heart.
